Egypt has NEVER experienced a real democracy. Despite being technically independent since 1922, it was under British colonial control until the Free Officers “Revolution” in 1952. Since Nasser and the Free Officers were pretty popular, the time is often looked back on nostalgically, especially…
It’s noted that I’m usually giving my opinion about a lot, like political events and movements. So, it’s strange that I’ve been oddly quiet about the protests and violence going on in Egypt. You think that an Internet blackout would make me say something.
So… I’ll say something… I guess.
Egypt got more guts than you. The entire country sees that there’s something wrong with the system and they do what’s necessary to change it.
Americans don’t have the guts to do it. They don’t have the guts to see something that is CLEARLY wrong with the system here. We’re “comfortable”. We don’t want to fight the system, even thought we have songs, stories and television shows about it. America wants to talk about change. It’s clearly can’t come from the politrickians here.
We worried more about abortion than what happens when the baby is born.
We worried about the “Sanctity of Marriage” while the divorce rate stays high.
We want peace while sending troops to war.
While we’re at it, some soldiers are more worried about “being uncomfortable” because “don’t ask, don’t tell” is lifted while the real question they should be asking is “why are we fighting this war?”
We want a change in the system, but are distracted by minor issues.
So… you really wanna know why I chose not to say anything about Egypt? Why should I?
Egypt done more to get the attention of the government than I ever done ranting.
So, I’m speechless… because Egypt shut me up and told me that America will never have the guts… we just don’t have it.
It’s like Twitter After Dark 24/7. Some of y’all ain’t having enough sex and some of you are having too much. And some of you are virgins. That must explain why my dashboard is NC17 at ALL hours of the day.
I can’t even open my dashboard if someone is in the same room as me. Or in public.
My tumblr window stays smaller than everything else. I never know what I’m gonna find on this dash.
